Traversing the complexity of teenage girls
Being a teenage girl is a COMPLEX time for both teens and parents!
As a parent, you may feel confused. You scratch your head and wonder, “What happened to my ‘happy-go-lucky’ child?” She suddenly seems moody, withdrawn, and much more into her friends (or her phone!) than you.
As a teen, your feelings of frustration and overwhelm can be the result of all the expectations placed on you.
Pleasing parents and teachers, maintaining friendships, figuring out your identity, getting good grades, and dealing with peer pressures and bullying do NOT make it an easy time in a teen’s life.
The teenage girls with whom I work often feel completely misunderstood and alone. They long for connection with their parents – but feel like it’s impossible to obtain, because their parents “just don’t get it.”
Often, they fall into depression, anxiety, and unhealthy coping as they just ‘can’t handle it anymore.’
Receiving guidance
I am passionate about working with teenage girls and guiding them through this time.
My own struggles as a teenager help me relate to teen girls. I attribute much of my identity development to the mentors and women in my life who saw the “real me.”
I would feel honored to work with your daughter and help her thrive and find her potential.
Teen girls struggling with self-esteem issues/peer problems
Self-esteem issues are common with teenage girls. The pressure to impress their peers and authority is high. Body image, cyber-bullying, and unrealistic expectations all play into this.
I help teenage girls increase their sense of self-worth and live as their unique, authentic self.
They are taught how to use boundaries and communication tools with their peers to help them have more satisfying relationships.
Teen girls struggling with depression/anxiety/overwhelmed feelings
Depression and anxiety often occur when everyday life just becomes ‘too much.’
Sometimes depression and anxiety show up as subtle symptoms, such as sleeping too much or too little, appetite changes, perfectionism, poor grades, isolation, and anger.
I work to identify and heal the underlying needs associated with these symptoms.
Parents coaching
When dealing with their teenage daughter’s behavior/emotions, parents often feel at a loss.
I work with parents to help them build stronger connections with their teens and give them the support and tools for which they have been looking.
Let me help you or your daughter!
I would be honored to walk with you on this journey and help you make your life meaningful again.
