Why Therapy?
Life is full of challenges, and most of us find ways to get through them. We adapt, we protect ourselves, we keep going. These survival strategies are often necessary — they may have kept you safe during hard times or helped you push through seasons when you felt like you had no other choice.
But over time, what once helped you survive can start to get in the way. Maybe anxiety or depression shows up. Maybe your relationships feel strained. Or maybe you just feel a constant sense of unease, as if you’re living on autopilot rather than feeling grounded and present. That’s where therapy comes in.
Therapy offers a safe space to slow down and understand the story you’ve been carrying. Together, we look at the patterns and roadblocks — the protective strategies, the old wounds, the dynamics you’ve learned in relationships — that might be keeping you stuck. We’ll gently explore how those patterns show up in your daily life and in your closest connections, and we’ll uncover the parts of you that long for healing and freedom.
My approach blends several evidence-based and experiential practices:
• Organic Intelligence (OI) to help regulate your nervous system so you feel steadier and safer inside.
• Attachment-focused therapy to understand how early relationships shaped the way you connect today.
• Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to support couples and individuals in moving past defensiveness, blame, or disconnection and into genuine understanding and closeness.
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you notice painful thoughts and feelings without letting them control your life, while learning to act in ways that align with your deepest values.
• Mindfulness and spirituality, when meaningful for you, to deepen your connection with yourself and with something larger than the moment’s stress.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you — because you’re not broken. It’s about honoring your story, meeting the parts of you that have worked so hard to protect you, and gently uncovering the truest version of yourself. Whether you’re navigating personal struggles, relationship pain, or simply longing for more peace and clarity, therapy can help you move from surviving to truly living.
I look forward to sharing this exciting and new journey with you!
Sincerely,

About Kelly LaPorta
I am a therapist who believes that healing begins in safe, compassionate connection. Over the years, I’ve supported individuals, entrepreneurs, and couples who are ready for more than just coping — people who long for real growth, honest connection, and the freedom to live with more peace and authenticity.
My approach is shaped by both professional training and personal exploration. I have training in Organic Intelligence (OI), Polyvagal Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy. I’ve also done extensive personal research on spirituality and contemplative practices, and I integrate these perspectives into therapy when they feel meaningful for clients.
What this means for you is that therapy won’t be one-size-fits-all. We’ll explore the roadblocks that have shaped your story — past trauma, relationship dynamics, protective strategies, or the weight of anxiety and depression — and we’ll work with them in a way that honors both science and soul. My role is to help you understand yourself with compassion, reconnect with your truest self, and create space for new ways of living and loving.
